I forgot my Username / Password. What should I do?

If you are an Online Banking customer and you've forgotten your Username, contact us at the numbers below. If you've forgotten your Password, visit the Password Reset page.

If you need more assistance, call Online Banking Customer Support at 1-800-488-2265, option 3. If you're outside the U.S., call 1-925-975-3202; before the "1," be sure to use any applicable exit code (for example, dial 00 in the UK). For TTY/TDD, please call 1-800-659-5495.

What do I do if my credit or debit card is lost or stolen?

To report your lost or stolen credit card, call 1-800-996-2638 immediately; we’re available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you’re outside the U.S., call 1-808-842-3100.

How do I report incorrect or unauthorized electronic funds transfers?

To report unauthorized or incorrect electronic funds transfers (including ATM or debit card transactions as well as other electronic deposits, withdrawals or transfers) call 1-800-488-2265, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For TTY/TDD, please call 1-800-659-5495.

How do I open a new account?

Bank of the West allows multiple types of accounts to be opened through your local branch or online.

What accounts can I open online?

Bank of the West allows personal checking, savings and money market accounts to be opened online, with a maximum of two applicants per account. For additional products such as loans and lines of credit please visit our full list of products available to open online.

How do I sign up for Online Statements?

Simply sign in to Online Banking, click the Online Statements tab under the Accounts main menu and click on the Enroll in Online Statements link next to your eligible accounts.

Online Statements are available for personal checking and savings accounts, money market accounts and certificates of deposit.

If you have a combined or integrated personal statement that shows checking accounts and additional account information (money market, savings, CD or Gold Line accounts), these will appear on one combined Online Statement, just as with a paper statement.


How do I find my routing and checking account numbers?

Look at the bottom left corner of your checks. The first nine-digit number on the left is the bank routing number. Immediately to the right of that is your checking account number.

How do I stop payment on a check?

You have two options to request a stop payment on a check that has been lost, is no longer valid or you otherwise do not wish to be paid. You may go to your local branch, or call our Contact Center Service at 1-800-488-2265. For TTY/TDD, please call 1-800-659-5495. You can use the automated system or speak to a Contact Center representative to request a stop payment. In order to place a stop payment, you will need the check number, dollar amount, the date on the check, and the payee. There may be a $35 fee for all stop payments placed on accounts, depending on the checking product you have.

CDs and IRAs

Can I have the interest on my CD put directly into my Bank of the West checking or savings account?

Yes, many of our customers take advantage of the convenience of having both accounts at Bank of the West. Visit or call your local branch to take advantage of this service.

How will I know when my CD matures?

Prior to maturity, we will send you a renewal notice and let you know that your CD is maturing. This notice will include a phone number you can call to answer any questions you might have.


How do I sign up for Mobile Banking?

If you have a Username and Password and have signed in to Online Banking at least once, there is no additional signup required to use our Mobile Banking service. Just download the app or go to from your mobile browser and sign in with your Username and Password to get started.

How do I sign in to Mobile Banking?

Either tap the Mobile Banking App icon on your smartphone or enter into your phone's web browser. Then log in using your Online Banking user name and password.

What are the ways that I can access Mobile Banking?

Bank of the West offers a wide range of ways to access mobile banking services depending on the type of mobile device you have. Mobile Banking services are accessible via:

Mobile and Tablet Apps: Available for iPhone®, iPad® and Android™ devices, our Apps allow you to view your account balances with just a swipe, deposit checks, pay bills and more. Plus, our Scan to Pay feature lets you add a payee by taking a photo of your bill stub with your mobile device. Download our free Apps from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to get started.

Mobile Web: You can view your account balances, pay bills and more using most mobile devices by simply visiting our mobile website or from any web enabled mobile device.

Text/SMS Banking: Using simple text message commands, you can see account balances, view transaction history and find Branch/ATM locations.

How do I start using Bill Pay?

Sign in to Online Banking by visiting and entering your user name and password. Once signed in, click Bill Pay to begin.


How do I verify a Bank of the West website is authentic?

Do not click on a web link through an email. Open a new window with your browser and type Look for the VeriSign icon on Bank of the West's website. To thwart "spoofing" (also known as page stealing) of our website, we have added an additional layer of security called VeriSign. The VeriSign seal permits consumers to verify the legitimacy of our site. Consumers are able to click to a certification page that authenticates the site, if it is indeed ours.

I think my personal information has been compromised. What do I do?

Immediately notify us and your other financial institution(s). You'll need to get new account numbers and select a new PIN. If you are in fact a victim of identity theft, we will offer assistance to help remedy the situation.

Call the three major credit bureaus: Equifax at (888) 766-0008, Experian at (888) 397-3742 and TransUnion at (800) 680-7289 to request that a fraud alert be placed on your credit report.

Call the Federal Trade Commission’s ID Theft hotline at (877) IDTHEFT to report it. The FTC will take a report, notify law enforcement officials and offer advice.
